CoronaVirus or Covid-19 as it is called. What a havoc this minute virus has created; to the extent that even God has shut doors on us. Along with the closure of airports, schools, colleges, marketplaces, travel or any social events even the Temples, Gurudwaras, Churches, Mosques have barred or instructed people from visiting them. What more could we have called for?

What is it that causes such a universal scare? If we still can’t understand the source of such a disaster and still consider ourselves the doer of everything then there cannot be a bigger fool than us. We must reckon with the fact that there is a Universal force that runs the entire humanity and if He wants He can vanquish everything in a fraction of a second. So instead of just calling it a virus spread we must comprehend that there is a force behind it and human acts are the reason, which have caused it.

Nature or the eternal force keeps giving us warnings of our wrong acts but we oversee them and keep committing blunders and misuse what we have been given. There is so much hatred, competitiveness, jealousy, and avarice, one-up ship, self-centeredness amongst the human race that we have forgotten to live a life of a ideal human. We are a part of the mad rush that has made us entrapped in the material modes of ignorance and passion, taking us far away from the mode of goodness, the only one, which can help us fulfill the purpose of life; which is to have the understanding of who, what and why we are.

All that we are witnessing today is because we have stopped behaving like the most superior beings that God had created and have been behaving whimsically, bereaved of all human values; of love, empathy and compassion, having lost all family and social values and all we are busy doing is accumulating just for ourselves, without being considerate about the needs of others as well. And look at what the Supreme power ultimately had to do, to bring us back to sanity. Today the whole world is living a disciplined life, which is bereft of madness and unreasonable acts.

We must understand the ways of God; along with all other things, He even had to close doors on his devotees. The reason, there is a dearth of real devotees in today’s world, which have lost faith in them or in their inner self and are foolishly running after the mirage; which does not exists. We indulge ourselves in all kinds of fruitless religious activities, are after the self-proclaimed Godman or the Gurus, who are unaware of their own future but behave like Gods for the foolish breed. And we become so blinded by this that we become the followers of such cult, completely forgetting that everything is inside us and we can get all the answers from within without wandering in ten different directions. But alas we choose to become the part of the cattle crowd who wanders directionless, only where the master takes them.

The situation around us is a testimony of the presence of the Divine force, only that runs the whole world, and if He wants, He can annihilate the entire human race in a second. We don’t need to see the physical form of that source; it makes its presence pretty evident.

It’s time we understand that we are nobody in this entire creation. We are no one to create emypires or build palatial houses, create huge industries and be proud of them. There is only one force that does all and He just makes us a via media to fulfill His plans and all happens because He wants it to happen and the day He wants things to stop He does it with one stroke of a air. Everything comes to a standstill; the life stops, the employment stops, scarcity happen and people are forced to live in isolation.

Lets stop misusing the powers we have been enthroned upon, lets not misuse the nature’s bounty and lets not force God to take such strict measures against the human race to bring them back to sanity. We are here for a purpose; to understand God, to know our inner self, which is the presence of God, to live an ideal life where we respect all and understand the vows of others before ourselves and live like a real human which Gods wants us to be.

Few days back, all that newspapers talked about was violence, hatred, terrorist attacks, rapes, religious discourses, wherein one religion was downgraded by the other but where has all that gone. All we talk about today is coronavirus. The virus has united the whole world in terms of the thoughts, actions, and behavior. And that is what The Supreme Force wanted. So let’s learn from our mistakes that we have been committing, ask for repentance and lets pledge to become an ideal human God wants us to be and put an end to the disaster that we are witnessing and which may vanquish a substantial human race.

Life is to live & life is to love,                                                                                                              & you only live when you learn to love.

Love all that exists around,                                                                                                                  God’s creations;the sun, the moon, the stars, the sky and the light,                                            the plants, the mountains, the air, the day and the night.                                                            The spring, the summer, the winter and the rain,                                                                loving all that we tend to refrain.

Love the colors;of the sky, the sun, the flowers and the leaves.                                            Love the shapes;of the flora, the fauna, the birds and the beast.                                        Love the whispers of the air and the shades of the sea.                                                            Love the melody of the birds and the sounds of the leaves.

Love the man, the woman and the child.                                                                                  Love the young, the old and the naive.                                                                                        Love the rich, the poor and the one’s in need.                                                                                  Love without expectation and the greed.

Love the ability to walk, talk, see and hear,                                                                                  to smell, eat and to bear.                                                                                                                      Love all that you receive and never try to deceive.

Life is thus only to live with love,                                                                                                    loving the others and the self.

In Mahabharata, Krishna tells Arjuna that all living entities are born into delusion, bewildered by dualities arising from desire and hate. The real constitutional position of the living entities is that of subordination to the Supreme Lord; who is pure knowledge. When one is deluded into separation from this pure knowledge, he becomes controlled by the illusionary energy and is not able to understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The illusionary energy is manifested in the duality of desire and hate, due to which the ignorant person wants to become one with the Supreme lord, envies Him as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, does not believe in His powers and thinks that he is as powerful as God.

The pure devotees who are not deluded or contaminated by desire and hate, can understand that Lord Sri Krishna, who appears by His internal potencies; is all pervasive and all powerful, but those who are deluded by duality and nescience think that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is created by material energies; and this is their misfortune. Such deluded persons, symptomatically, dwell in dualities of honour and dishonour, misery and happiness, woman and man, good and bad, pleasure and pain, etc., thinking that, “this is my wife; this is my house; this is my money; these are my children; I am the master of this house; I am the husband of this wife, so on and so forth. These are the ‘Dualities of delusion’ and those who are deceived by these dualities are completely foolish and therefore cannot understand the Supreme personality of Godhead and His powers.

Such people unwisely claim all the material things to be there’s and are totally unaware of the realities of life. Unintelligently, all their life they keep on fighting with the endless conflicting thoughts that their mind breeds and are never able to come out of it. And in the process, their whole life is spent in disbelief and misconceptions; never having the understanding of their own existence and its eternal relationship with the Almighty.

Living in dualities, thus dilutes the complete purpose of life as one is only engrossed in meaningless activities which entangle one in the material fantasy, from where there is no retreat. These delusions, also known as Maya covers the intelligence of the man as the clouds cover the sun and takes away the brightness of a sunny day.

Thus ,for a pure existence on this earth we must come out of the clutches of Maya and make pure efforts to live an ideal life where we have the true understanding of the universal truth.

Stress, tensions and worries are the integral part of every human’s journey and entrap them at each stage of their life. The people, situations and incidences that they come across each day, keeps them in perpetual anxiety.

They are deeply concerned and anxious of the other peoples’ behaviour towards them. And perform all their acts keeping the others’ and their views in mind and with a resolute of proving a point to them. They are awfully frightened by the situations; both the present and the one’s they contemplate for the future and they worry for the smallest of the issues that they face each day; most of which are baseless and irrelevant.

But is that the appropriate way to live? Are we right in worrying about the people or the external forces that influence us or the one’s we allow to rule our life? The answer to this is a clear no. There is absolutely no need to worry about such forces. Rather, there is something else that we all should worry or be concerned about; which is our own thoughts.

`PROTECT YOURSELF FROM YOUR OWN THOUGHTS’, says the famous poet, Rumi.

How extremely true this phrase is and clearly suggests that we need not worry and get stressed about any external factors, situations or people but need to surely protect us from our own thoughts. There is no external force which can be as big a challenge for us than our own thoughts; which can make or break us.

Positive thoughts imply our unaltered faith in our inner self and the power above and by having them, we can easily create a positive aura around ourselves; which itself is a game changer.

The negative thoughts on the other hand, can take us to a doomed situation; spreading meaningless negativity in our life and surroundings. By carrying adverse thoughts, we self invite multifarious problems in our life, which may not have any solution to them. A thought process like this brings unhappiness, anxiety and worthless stress which prevent us from enjoying things that we possess and resultantly brings an end to the mental peace.

So, more than anything else in this world, we should protect ourselves from our own thoughts and should try and control them as much as we can ,because by doing so we will be able to witness an end to most of our inconsequential problems and will be able to live in peace.

Mamta Sehgal.

I always feel that with the passage of time and with each growing year, I have become quieter and have lost the urge to indulge in any meaningless discussion or conversations. Such indulgence, I feel, is a waste of time as well as energy; which should be rather used in a more sensible manner. So, where on one hand I feel happy about the fact that I am using my energies positively, on the other, carry many thoughts that incessantly bother me. The thought that is it the right thing to do? Is it appropriate when I do not at all talk or feel like talking to anyone? What will the people think about me? Will they think that I am too conceited? Will God punish me for this behaviour and will it become my bad karma?

Lots of such thoughts occur and occupy my mind and put me in a constant dilemma.

Fortunately, though, few days back, I came across this beautiful quote by the famous poet, Rumi, which said- `THE QUIETER YOU BECOME, THE MORE YOU ARE ABLE TO HEAR’ and it cleared all my illusions and apprehensions and reassured me that I am on the right path and there is nothing wrong in my demeanor.

We all must understand that the most important thing in life is to have the knowledge and the awareness of our inner self;the knowledge that if we are able to understand our true conscience, we can get all our answers from within. Our inner self is the only true guiding force which can solve all our problems and then there is no need to wander here and there. But to achieve all this, we need to be quieter in order to hear and acknowledge this voice that comes from within.

In general, all day long, all the humans are deeply engrossed in many endless conversations; most of which are senseless and only bring them into the trap of jealously, anger and anxiousness. Such conversations keep them so occupied that they forget to indulge in any rightful things or acts. There is no self introspection and thus no understanding of the truth and resultantly, all there life is spent in the nescience.

Hence, if we really want to understand the true realities of life and that of our inner self and want to sincerely listen to the voice within, than we surely need to become quieter with each passing day. We have to forbid ourselves from worthless talking and have to spend more time in listening to what our inner voice wants to tell us. If we remain silent than these inner sounds and the voice would become clearer. But if we keep ourselves busy in trivial talking, than we create so many futile sounds around us which prevent us from hearing the most important sound of our life and  take us far way from all the consequential things of life and just lead us to worthless engagements.

The knowledge of self is highly crucial because it helps us to understand the real power of the all eternal Almighty and we will only be able to have it when we train our self to speak less ,in order to hear the most significant sound in life; the sound of the voice within.

All of us at some point in our life must have experienced the activities of the birds, insects or animals while they make an attempt to catch their prey. As a general practice, the minute an animal catches its prey, all the others of the same breed, start following it and this desperate bid to possess the catch causes anger, anxiety, hatred and revenge. There are two scenarios in this; one, the animal continues with the clash and two, it decides to abdicate. The first scenario, undoubtedly causes immense anxiety, but the moment, the animal decides otherwise, there is absolute peace as all the other animals stop following the animal in question and look for other avenues to find food for them; bringing an end to the mutual animosity.

So, till the time, the animal is holding on to the prey, which it acquires with extreme difficulty, it feels entrapped but as soon the difficult decision to part with it is taken ,the other animals retreat, creating aplenty free space for the animal to move about, bringing in a sense of complete freedom to decide the future course.

This act of the insects, birds or the animals is a powerful example for the human beings to follow. In our life, too, till the time we have a stern sense of belonging towards many material things, which we falsely claim to be ours, keep holding on to the grudges against people, keep sulking about the things we dislike about them, keep bothering ourselves because of the wrong behavior of the others, we are entrapped in the clutches of maya and are surrounded by all the wrong people in life.

But, the moment we let go of our thoughts & grudges which originate from others and start understanding that all the undesired people around us are simply irrelevant and unimportant for our existence, and it is thus pointless to waste our energy on them, we are in an absolute renewed state of mind. The decision is tough because we have nurtured this thought process all our life and keep clinging to it, but when we realize the realities of life and find the rest immaterial, and stop reacting and discussing about them, we are able to clear all the clutter, creating a lot of breathable space around us. A mere change of mind brings us to a state where there is boundless freedom to think and act, resulting in immense positivity and immeasurable peace of mind.

The most difficult thing in life is to let go of our rigid fixations and mannerisms and that is why all our life, in spite of being aware of the things that put us in trouble and bring us distress, we still keep letting them afflict us. But the point we comprehend the truth and recognize their worthlessness, we are automatically freed from a lot of agony and ineffectual disposition and lead a peaceful life.

Mamta Sehgal.

Life is a journey where we all are mere travelers walking on different paths. On our odyssey, all of us have to tread good as well as bad paths and there is nobody on this earth who is able to trek on an absolute smooth track throughout his/her life.

Life, thru the ups and downs it shows in its varied paths, teaches every individual various lessons. While some individuals understand the reality and take things as they come to them, there are many, on the other hand who get stressful, even because of the smallest issues.

The intelligent people always remain poised and calm, never take the burden of unnecessary stress and are always cheerful and at peace with them. But, the people who refuse to understand the reality of life are always stressful, irrespective of the situation; official, personal or any other non relevant issue.

Such people are in constant stress as they get into the habit of making issues out of the non-issues too. Leave aside the bigger ones; they get hyper about even the smallest of the matters. They are stressful about travelling & leaving home, about getting late to reach a destination, about things not happening their way and even by the non-availability of the support staff. Instead of managing things coolly they are always hyper no matter what the time and situation is in the life. They are stressed about even the minutest illnesses and start thinking of the extremes in that too. Not only in illness but in every single issue of life they think of the extremes and thus get into the negative mode of thinking. More so, because of the fear of things happening to them, they are always at a denial mode and thus refuse to enjoy their life even when they can very well do it.

By having this kind of thought process such people not only affect themselves but also their immediate relations as it affects their health and leads to an obsessive disorder which becomes a part of their nature and is self deteriorating.

‘All our life we keep saying it’s too early and then one day it becomes too late’, is a famous saying holding such deep meaning. Truly speaking, this is the real thought process of many of us. We keep on delaying things because of our irrelevant fears and then one day we realize it has become too late to accomplish those things.

Life is a celebration and thus should be enjoyed each moment. Things should be taken a little easy and in their stride, because everything will happen as destined and nothing before time. Problems are a part of our life and we have to face them with calmness and restrain, so that they do not disturb our peace of mind. Worrying and getting stressed about the non relevant issues is absurd and we should learn to take things lightly and try to be in peace.

People who remain calm in every situation have a very peaceful appearance and are able to pass thru with ease even the most difficult times of their lives. But people who always live in stress worsen the difficult situations they face and unnecessarily prolong them creating an aura of stress around themselves, which after a certain period starts reflecting in their persona too.

God has left a lot of things in our hands and He makes sure that we have the best of everything, but if in spite of everything if we are adamant to spoil our life than nobody can help us. So, try to take the life easy and enjoy each moment as it comes to you with cheerfulness so that the life for us becomes the bed of roses and not the path of thorns.

‘RELATIONSHIP’ is an important word which plays a crucial role in every human’s life. Each alphabet in this word has a meaning;R-Real,E-Endless,L-Love,A-Affection,T-Trust,I-Inclination,O-Openness,N-Nurturing,S-Sacrifice,H-Happiness,I-Involvement,P-Pure,S-Sentiments.The word RELATIONSHIP ,thus is an amalgamation of the various emotions that the alphabets in it stand for.

The day a child descends on this earth he is fated with many relationships which happen by virtue of his/her birth in a particular family. And as one grows, the number of relationships too grows and it depends entirely on an individual how well he/she takes care of them.

In olden days, people gave huge importance and respect to every relation they had. They valued each of their relations no matter whether it was a blood relation or not. People had few resources but still knew how to keep all the relationships alive in those resources.

But the present day scenario is different. In spite of having enough resources, even the closest of the relationships have become a burden which people do not want to carry with them. They are happy living their lives in isolation and do not want any interference from anyone. In fact, they try to do things which prevent others from getting closer to them and thus automatically get distanced from everybody.

Everything seems perfect till the time the train of life is running uninterrupted on the designated track, nobody is required as everything seems perfect in the self-demarcated world.

But, one thing that each one of us must never forget is that the track of life is not always smooth. Sometimes, one has to trek on the bumpy and uneven tracks too and it is in these difficult times that the feeling of isolation sinks in and one feels the need of having the dear ones around, who could share the plight one faces .This is the time when they try to look back into their life and relent, but till then, it is too late.

All the above is one side of the story. And, there is a flip side to it too. In our life, there are also some relations which are extremely difficult to handle and are a burden. No matter how much you try, they fail to understand the real feelings and always bring you to a point of stress. The harder you try to run these relations smoothly, the more the other persons make it difficult for you. And thus it is always better to take a back seat in such relations to keep oneself out of the distressed situation.

Relationships, thus should be respected and taken care off with great responsibility. Understanding the meaning of each alphabet and following it is important and should be handled with utmost regard and sincerity to keep them in good spirits. One should never forget that these emotions are given by God only to humans with a reason and it is thus sinful if we are not able to take care of these by not fulfilling our roles and duties as a human.

But sadly, these days’ sincere people who give importance to all these emotions are considered fools. No one understands their feelings, their emotions are never respected but are made fun off and thus they are always in trouble. On the contrary, the people who do not respect other’s emotions are considered perfectly fine and faultless.

Therefore, for a happy life one should try and have real &ideal relationships and should respect  and take care of them so that one doesn’t feel isolated in times of trouble and there is positivity around ,which itself is the cure of a lot of the issues of life.

Mamta Sehgal.

India has celebrated more than 70 years of Independence. The day for us is a day of great joy as it is the day of our freedom and is celebration for all the Indians. But time & again there is one question which occurs in my mind; are we independent in the true sense? Is there any reason for us to celebrate this freedom?

All these questions really trouble me because in reality there is absolutely no reason to celebrate because till today we are entangled in multifarious issues, which don’t seem to have a solution. The kind of social improvement we should have made after so many years has still not been achieved. We are stuck up in many social menaces like corruption, communalism, atrocities against women & children and many more to count. Though the country has achieved a lot in all these years but all these perils have overshadowed the development.

Till today more than 50% of the country lives in villages where there are still no basic amenities like water, food, sanitation, roads, electricity, education and healthcare. The farmers of the country still reel under the burden of acute poverty and their debts force them to commit suicides. There are many places where people have to walk for 5-6 kms each day to collect water. Each year the country’s many areas face droughts or floods where people lose all the belongings and are forced to start their life from scratch. Millions of people till today live in such awful conditions which are unimaginable and nerve wrecking.

Truly speaking, the poor of the country has become poorer and the rich richer. All these years all that the social structure has done is create a big gap between the two classes of the rich and the poor. So huge is this gap that it is difficult to bridge it now. The poor till today have no access to the facilities that the government provides and they are exploited in every field, whether it is the hospitals or any other government functionaries. The lack of money forces them to stay on roads outside hospitals when their loved ones are ill and many of them lose them since they can’t bear the expenses. It is sad to see the kind of living conditions they are forced to live in. There are many governments who have been in power all these years but they all have just exploited the poor converting their situation from bad to worse.

Along with all this, a lot of deterioration is seen in the basic temperament of people of the country. There is a lot of mistrust among the individuals about the general atmosphere, whether political or social. We have shown to the world that we have done a lot of development in the cities but what is the meaning of this development when we can’t give social security to our girls & women and when we issue directives that the tourists should not wear short garments in the public places.

Leave aside the general perception of the individuals about the political scenario of the country; the social scenario looks bleak too. Everybody is self obsessed having an extremely individualistic approach. People are not concerned even when they see somebody dyeing on the streets , they just cross by without helping the ill fated. There is a great amount of fear, greed & distrust among people and that is why no one is concerned about the sorrows & pains of others.

There were times in the past when there was so much of faith, trust, love & affection amongst people and look at us now; we live in isolation, thinking that it is the best way to live.

The political structure of the country too has lost all the morality. There were times when the leaders were the ideal figures who showed immense dignity in their dealings and acted as an inspiration for the generations, but look at them today there is hardly anybody of that stature and there is a dearth of leaders whose conduct is exemplary. All that one tends to hear and read in the news is corruption, allegation, crime, rapes, deceit and blame game. The media of the country too doesn’t play its part by showing issues of relevance in the news; instead all that is shown is the meaningless news about politics which is not at all solving the problems of millions who are badly affected by the social issues.

The freedom thus seems meaningless. The meaning of freedom will only become true if there is real development in the character of the people and when we are able to clear the society of all the menaces, which though is a little difficult but not impossible. On the personal front too there is a lot which needs to be done. Let’s bring back those times when people did not feel the need to lock their doors. There were so much of love, affection, trust & family values amongst people.

Our ancestors lived with a lot less amenities that we live with today but they were far happier and at peace with themselves. On the other hand, we today, with all the worldly comforts are far less at peace .We must bring those qualities back in each one of us and in the society, so that along with the development that the country experiences we are also able to develop the social character of the country which will bring us the real freedom we all will be really proud off and would want to celebrate.
