THE STORY OF UNFLINCHING FAITH

Durvasa muni was a powerful mystic brahmana determined to observe the principles of religion with great vows and under strict austerities. His name is associated with many historical events, and it appears that the great mystic could be both easily satisfied and easily annoyed. When he was satisfied, he could do tremendous good to the servitor, but if he was dissatisfied he could bring about the greatest calamity.

He had about 10,000 disciples and wherever he visited he was accompanied by all his disciples. Once he visited the house of Duryodhana, the enemy cousin of Yudhisthira. Duryodhana was intelligent enough to satisfy the brahamana’s by all means, and the great Rsi wanted to give him some benediction. Duryodhana knew his mystic powers and also knew that if brahama is dissatisfied he could cause havoc and thus he designed to engage the brahamna to show his wrath upon his enemy cousins, the Pandavas. Thus when Rsi wanted to award him some benediction the latter wished that he should visit the house of Maharaja Yudhisthira, who was the eldest and chief among all his cousins. He knew that by his request he would go to him after he had finished his meals with his queen Draupadi and it would be impossible for Maharaja Yudhisthira to receive such a large number of brahmana guests and thus the Rsi would be annoyed and would create some trouble for his cousin, Maharaja Yudhisthira. Muni agreed to his proposal and approached the King in exile after they had finished their meals.

On his arrival the Muni was greeted with respect and was asked to freshen themselves till the time the food will be prepared. Rsi went for bath but leaving the King in great anxiety. He knew that till the time Draupadi hadn’t eaten, any number of guest can be served but as per Duryodhana plans they all reached after Draupadi had finished her meals.

When the devotees are out into difficulty they have an opportunity to recollect the lord with rapt attention, so Draupadi started thinking of Lord Krishna and all-pervading Lord could at once know the dangerous position of His devotees. He therefore came there on the scene and asked draupadi to give whatever food she might have in her stock. On her being so requested by the Lord, Draupadi was sorrowful because the Supreme Lord asked her for some food and she was unable to supply it at that time. She said to the Lord that the mysterious dish which she had received from the Sun god could supply any amount of food if she herself had not eaten but on that day she had already taken her meals and they were in danger. By expressing her difficulties she began to cry before the Lord as any women in her position would do. The Lord however asked Draupadi to bring up the cooking pot to see if there was any particle of vegetable sticking to the pot, the Lord at once picked up one and ate it. After doing so, the Lord asked Draupadi to call for her guests, the company of Durvasa.

Bhishma was sent to call for them from the river. Bhishma said,’why are you delaying sirs? Come on, the food is ready for you.’ But the brahmanas because of Lord Krishna’s accepting a little particle of food, felt sumptuously fed even while they were in the water. They thought that since Maharaja Yudhisthira must have prepared many valuable dishes for them and since they were not hungry and could not eat, the King would feel very sorry, so it was better not to go there. Thus they decided to go away.

The incident proves that the Lord is the greatest mystic and therefore he is known as Yogeshwara. Another instruction is that every householder must offer food to the Lord and the result will be that everyone even a company of guests numbering ten thousand will be satisfied because of Lord’s being satisfied. That is the way of devotional service and the unflinching faith in GOD.

EVOKING GOD

We all know that God is omnipresent; He is there in all that exists in this universe. He takes care of each one of us every moment of our life. He is there for us whenever we need Him, but does not interfere in our day-to-day affairs.

There are times when life catches us up in its web and puts us in drastic situations, from where there seems no rescue. It is in situations like these that we get carried away and the fear of the unknown forces us to wander to different avenues to get solutions to our problems. The fact, although is, that no one but God can bring an end to all our difficulties and the problems we may be facing and we should thus just strive to attain His grace to get out of such challenging moments. The only way we can do this is by `Evoking God’. When we attempt to do so, we request Him to be on our side in onerous times or for that matter in all times, so that we can face those situations with ease and are able to get through the testing times without feeling the pain it infuses.

This may sound amusing but this can surely happen. If we request God to be always by our side and to keep us in His divine shadow then He surely stands by our side and makes sure that we cross the toughest of the bridges with the ease, which is formidable to even contemplate. But if we do not feel the need of His presence then He will watch us from far, attempting to fight all the battles the life puts us into.

The biggest example of this was an incidence in Mahabharata. Yudhishthira, the most decorated king of the Pandava dynasty once asked Krishna that why were they not stopped from playing the game of dice and getting into the resultant acts that ruined their life and led to the war of Mahabharata and why did He came to Draupadi’s rescue minutes after the shameless event started happening.

Krishan said, ‘ Dear Yudhishthira, all of you five brothers were so engrossed in the game of gambling that you became unaware of its repercussions. You were so ashamed of your acts that you didn’t want me to witness it, so I stayed away and watched you go in darkness. But when Draupadi called for my name, I immediately responded and was there in seconds to protect her. So, it is only when the devotee calls for me with pure heart and devotion and invites me to be by his/her side that I respond and help them to be safe and happy, elseways I stay away and just watch everything.

Evoking God, thus, is the easiest solution to all our problems and it surely works, if attempted with a pure conscience and utmost faith, and if it happens then the need to worry just fades.

GOD

Problems force us to look up to GOD and depend on HIM instead of depending on our own self. There are times when we realize how powerless we are to help ourselves and it is then that we put everything into the hands of GOD and understand that HE is the only one who can save us from every crisis that comes forth us.

THE FEMININE POWER

It is the time of Navratras again, the most divine and blissful nine days where the whole atmosphere is filled with piousness and devotion. It is also the time to understand the immense power of the femineity, the power of the Maa, in her many forms.g

During Navratras, people religiously read the holy book, the Durga Stuti which in its thirteen chapters explains the advent of Maa Durga and how she kills all the asuras in order to protect the Devas. The book beautifully explains that how the extremely fearful and troubled Indra, Brahma and many more devas could not handle the atrocities put upon them by the asuras and thus had to plead for the appearance of Maa, the only one, who could destroy the extremely powerful breed of rakshasas.

When Maa comes with her various forms, she kills the dangerous asuras with utmost ease and ends their barbarity towards the devas and helps them to re-occupy their respective abodes. Reading this holy book repeatedly gives a great feeling of how a feminine power which is otherwise considered gentle and docile fights the horrifying asuras fearlessly to protect the devas.

This is about the eternal and the most powerful Divine Maa, but if we see in real life too, the so called effeminate women is the actual rescuer of the family. She with all her gentleness manages all the day to day issues of the entire family ,their emotions, their well being ,the education of her kids and all this, along with her own professional , physical & psychological issues. She is expected to be a perfect multi-tasker.

Every man, whether he is a son, a husband or a lover needs the support of a woman at different stages of his life;without which he is incomplete. Thus she has to be credited and respected for all that she does for everyone and for the society at large .But sadly ,in today’s world;considering the kind of atrocities she is facing, she is immensely ill treated.

But one should never forget that like Maa Durga, every women behind her soft appearance has the powers, which if required, can destroy anybody or anything. She can be extremely caring but if her dignity and respect is at stake then she can be awfully cruel and thus should be never be underestimated and her contributions should always be acknowledged.

PATIENCE SURELY PAYS

Life is a stern educator which puts all of us into vigorous trainings and tests. Along with the tests, it also gives profound lessons, which if taken well, can surely assist in solving those tests. There is no one on this earth who has not faced difficult situations, at least once, if not more, in the entire life. Thus, there is not a single human being who can claim not to have seen the ups and downs in his/her life journey. So, in nutshell, life decelerates everyone at some point in life.

Although, all of us are expected to keep a balance in the difficult moments but there are very few who pass such phases with patience and perseverance. In general, people tend to lose their equanimity while facing such situations and display an abhorrent conduct. But, a person who never loses faith in the Almighty, never blames Him for any wrong and passes the difficult phases with endurance and self-control, is surely rewarded by God at the right time and is able to lead a happy and a contended life.

It is a proven fact that God appreciates such ideal actions and rewards such humans for their levelheadedness in a way which is beyond the person’s imagination.

We may tend to ignore this fact, but there is a Power which watches all of us and each and every action that we indulge in. HE knows all our thoughts as well as our needs and fulfills each of our wish, but only when He thinks is right. And it is when we receive such benedictions from God that we realize that we are being rewarded for facing and fighting all the adverse situations  with absolute fortitude and faith. Receiving all that we had once dreamt off is truly a miraculous situation because the fulfillment of one’s dreams in the present lifetime is the biggest reward that a person can receive. No one has seen the next life and if one is able to fulfill his or her dreams in this life itself, than that person is blessed beyond words. It proves that God has rewarded and has showered His choicest blessings on that individual.

So,always keep your faith intact and pass the difficult phases of life with composure and God will surely reward you for your forbearance.

JO MAANGO APNE THAKUR SE, SOHI SOHI WOH DEVE! `WE ONLY RECEIVE, WHAT WE WISH FOR IN LIFE!’

`JO MAANGO APNE THAKUR SE, SOHI SOHI WOH DEVE!’

How very true the above saying is! Each day we wish for millions of things in our life and the same is fulfilled by God. Whatever thoughts we carry each moment of the day, God puts us in those situations and surroundings and helps us to give shape to our thoughts. If babbling and indulging in meaningless conversations is our only food for thought, then God will put us in the company of such people or in such situations so that we are able to fructify those thoughts by engrossing ourselves in senseless discussions about the most irrelevant issues in life.

On the other hand, if we wish to spend our valuable life time in relevant activities than God surely creates an environment which is conducive to do so. HE puts us in the company of such people, where we only indulge in worthwhile activities and there is no room for anything irrelevant. In short, whatever way we intend to live our life, God facilitates the same for us.

Most of us are in a habit of grieving about the endless self-created problems and situations we get into, but are unappreciative for the unlimited things that we are bequeathed with. In spite of been in good health, we feel that we are in a bad shape and pre-empt that our health is going to further deteriorate and there will be no recovery thereafter. We complain and worry about the extreme hypothetical situations in life  and God gives shape to all those thoughts; HE puts us in such conditions, makes us immobile and hence, does nothing more than fulfilling our wishes.

If we constantly think about the immobility, than HE makes us immobile, but if in spite of some major disorder we intend and try to be self-dependent, then God surely gives us the strength to be on our own.

If irrespective of possessing everything we are always complaining and are adverse to good things in life, than we will be put into situations and environment like that. But if we wish to explore different creations of God, are positive and want to lead a vibrant life than God makes sure that we experience all those things in life.

So, in reality it is purely our thoughts that are fulfilled by God and we only receive what we wish for in our life. But what is worrisome is that we only wish for wrong things and get the same. Contrary to what we contemplate, the Almighty has no hand in putting us in difficult situations and it is surely our own thoughts that bring us into such adverse circumstances.

WHATEVER WE WISH FOR IN LIFE,WE RECEIVE THE SAME FROM GOD..

`WHATEVER WE WISH FOR IN LIFE,WE RECEIVE THE SAME FROM GOD!’

Ideally, to live a simple and sorted life we shouldn’t be bothered by what others say or think and should be only concerned about our own conduct and peace of mind. Such should be the extent of our contentment that we should be only concerned of our acts and should be least interested in what others do in their life.

But the truth is that most of us are in a habit of grieving about the endless self-created problems and situations we get into, but are unappreciative for the unlimited things that we are bequeathed with. SRIDEVI’S DEATH-A TRUTH WE ALL MUST UNDERSTAND….

The death of Sridevi was an extremely tragic episode that jolted the entire nation, including me. Even though I don’t have a direct link with her or with her family and am like any other commoner who just knew Sridevi as an actress and a famous celebrity, the news was still a shocker. For few hours, after my husband broke this news to me, I was in a jittery condition. The whole episode was simply unimaginable, which left my heart in doldrums.

My mind could not accept, that a person who is so fit, is extremely disciplined, so full of life, never had a history of illness and most importantly was so young, can die like this. I had consistent thoughts that how could someone, so rich and famous; having an access to all the facilities in the world, succumb to such a helpless death, where she could not even get an instant medical support and be saved.

As per medical standards, such things can happen to people who have a sedentary life style, are not health conscious and constantly abuse their body because of bad habits, but for someone who had never indulged in anything like this, followed a regular health regime and was a classical dancer; explaining her death is a little difficult . Leave aside others, even the medical fraternity cannot affirm the valid reasons for this tragic incidence.

Whenever such events happen, people indulge in baseless speculations and theories, but no one goes to the core reason behind it; that of the universal theory of the presence of the divine force within and all around us ; something that each human must comprehend.

No one in this world can explain and predict the two most important phenomena; of life and death. There are many people who boast of knowing the future and other important events of life, but they all tend to fool others. The fact is that, though God has bestowed the humans with many powers but has kept the advent of birth and death in HIS own hands. Thus, no human can predict or know when it will happen. If humans had the power to know these two most important phenomena of their life, they would have surely misused these powers and someone so influential like Sridevi would have known that this was coming; she would not have been dancing in a wedding, few days before her death.

Her death is a true example of what a freak incidence can be and truly explains just one eternal truth; that indisputably, this world is run by a divine force, which is the reason behind everything that is happening in this world. Whatever happens in our life and around us is due to this force and its transcendental powers.

The humans have done innumerable scientific discoveries but the fact is that there is only one force which controls everything. Although many human beings do not believe this fact and consider themselves to be the creator of their fortunes and their life, but that’s not the case. The fact is that there is only one power that is running the complete show and it is incidences like these that time and again prove its presence and true importance.

If that was not the case, than what else can explain the events in a person’s life where one moment he or she is hale and hearty, is happily enjoying the life and days later succumbs to an unexplainable death. The fact is that the number of breaths each one of us will breathe on this earth are pre-decided and as soon as they end, the consciousness leaves the body; leaving the person nothing more than a piece of flesh. This consciousness which is a sign of life , is the proof of the presence of God in each human being and thus as soon it is lost, everything comes to an end. The person leaves everything belonging to him or her as it is and no one; the doctors or the loved ones can stop this event to happen.

Such tragic moments, thus are the lessons for all to understand; that there is nothing more superior than the divine force, which is managing the entire universe and is the only one who is aware of what will happen next in  life. How much planning one might do, but the moment the time to go comes, there is nobody who can prevent it.

So, believe in this transcendental power and understand that it is the only eternal truth in this world and rest everything is illusion, we keep living with. The sooner we comprehend this fact, the better it is for us.

WHAT AN ESCAPE!

Alike each day I left home to walk to my office, which is just five minutes away from the house. It was a sunny day and was quite warm, considering that it is just the beginning of March.

I left the society compound and was walking on the main road. The office was across the road so a divider needed to be crossed to reach the other side of the road. I usually crossed the road from the second cut at the divider, but as the heat was mind boggling, I decided to do so from the first cut only. I turned my head right to see if there was any vehicle coming ;there was one and as soon as it passed, I crossed the road and stepped on to the divider.

From there, I stepped down once again on to the road, but this time didn’t pay attention to the truck which was coming from the left. The speeding truck brush passed me and its proximity was nerve-racking. It passed like a wind and left me totally numb. I couldn’t discern what had just happened or could have happened and this realization came only after I reached the other side of the road. What an escape, I thought to myself?

I was so appalled that I kept walking and started deliberating that how on earth I escaped such an accident. I felt a presence of a force besides me, which protected me from such a fatal mishap. There was a paper-thin difference between me and the rushing truck and it would have just run over me, but the divine force held me and protected me. If it was not for this marvel, it would have surely been the end for me.

For few hours after the incidence, it still flashed in front of my eyes and gave me jitters but along with it, also gave me the beautiful feeling of experiencing the presence of the divine force by my side. I was overwhelmed to reckon with the force, which most people are never able to do all their life.

Lots of people experience such things but never acknowledge the eternal truth. But the fact is that as soon as we start believing this force, it starts showing the signs of its presence. So be blessed and increase your faith to experience such wonders and recognize the divine presence in your life.

EVERY CREATION OF GOD IS RELEVANT

Wheat flour is one of the most essential food components that is used in different forms in kitchens across the world. But the fact that all of us are aware of is, that it cannot be used as it is, i.e. in its dry form and has to be prepared in a specific way in order to make it edible. The dry flour has to be kneaded into dough and only then can it be used. But this does not at all imply that the dry flour has no relevance; it is equally important. In order to use the kneaded dough, it is essential to make use of the dry flour in order to get a desired shape, which is extremely difficult otherwise. This is a common phenomenon that all of us or at least all the women experience each day in their life. So in true sense, the dry flour is as important as the wet flour in the dough form and both complement each other.

This is just one example and there are many like these that we come across each day. If sunlight is important so is the shade, if summers are important so are the winters, if salt is important so is the sugar, if days are important so are the nights, if  sweet is important so is the sour and so on and so forth; there are endless examples like these.

Everything that we see, experience and use in our life has been created by God. The Power above is the nucleus of all the things that exist and hence a human being should not claim to be the creator of anything. The entire nature and all its creations which are there from time immemorial are created by God. HE creates, maintains and annihilates everything, as and when it’s time comes and humans are just the via media designated by God to take care of all the creations that HE has  created .

Another important fact is that nothing in this universe is irrelevant, whether it is the smallest of the insects or the wildest of the plants. All the flora, fauna, plants, animals, any living or non-living things, seasons, weathers, anything that we see around us or experience is relevant for the mutual existence of all the creatures in this world. Each and everything that exists is imbibed with some qualities which are also useful for the survival of the others; living or non-living. An amazing example of this is termite; it is considered to be extremely harmful for the wood and various things made out of it, that we use in our households but if we happen to go to a jungle, we will notice that all over the jungle, there are heaps of termite; some of them even looking as miniature trees and is extremely important for the maintenance of all the flora and fauna that exists in the forest. Amazing! Isn’t it?

Hence, everything that exists in this world is relevant and there is nothing, not even the smallest of the particle that floats in ether, which is irrelevant. So instead of  considering ourselves the sole cause for everything in our lives ,we should be aware of the reality that everything is created by God and is relevant and should respect the presence of everyone and everything in life .
